What to Expect:
Music, movement, and magical moments with your mini maestros! At Tunezies, we'll dive into the fundamentals of music in a play-based environment that incorporates music theory through our original curriculum. We'll explore various instruments using our proprietary music kit, groove to music through movement, and enjoy a broad repertoire ranging from original songs, classic children's songs, and all sorts of ageless genres. This diverse and intentional selection exposes our Totz to a wide array of music, keeping them engaged, curious, and excited to learn and socialize alongside their caregivers.
How Tunezies Began: Creating Our Musical World
Tunezies began as a happy accident during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a signed recording artist “living my dream” in LA, I found myself at a crossroads when all my touring was canceled, and live performances came to a halt. With a deep love for children and a fascination for child development, I felt a pull towards creating something meaningful for future generations.
Our first music "pod" was a simple gathering held outdoors in a circle at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. It was there that I had a revelation – the children's songs of today were the same songs I grew up with, the same songs our parents sang to us. This realization sparked a fire in my songwriter brain, inspiring me to update these classics and put my own artistic twist on the children's music space.
Word spread quickly among the Los Angeles parent community, and what started as one class soon expanded to five days a week. Burbank Parks & Recreation took notice, and I taught sold out classes as part of their programming.
I have poured my heart and soul into Tunezies, building the curriculum and community from the ground up. From custom instrument kits to original songs, from mantras said throughout class to the sequencing of the curriculum, every aspect is designed to create a magical, musical adventure for little ones and their caregivers to experience together.
Since moving to Michigan, I have continued to grow Tunezies into a community of open-minded individuals of all ages, with the hope of nurturing a love of music, self-expression, and creativity for generations to come. I teach my curriculum all over the metro Detroit area at esteemed early childhood centers, screen-free play zones, educational institutions, as well as privately.
In 2023, I was granted the prestigious "Jazz Road Creative Residency" by South Arts Organization. I recorded my original music with a masterful band of musicians in New Orleans, slated for a 2024 release.
While Tunezies started with a 45-minute class, the sky is the limit. I am constantly reaching for the stars and hope to continue to evolve this space into bigger performances and creative experiences, providing children and caregivers with unforgettable musical adventures for years to come.
